Battle Pet Tamers: Northrend

The tamers in Northrend that are part of the Battle Pet Tamers: Northrend quest showcase a wide variety of pets to battle against and a few offer the opportunity to level up low pets for some speed leveling. Although all of the tamers in Northrend offer level 25 pets (the maximum level), none of them are going to be impossible or take too many tries provided you bring the right pets along for these fights.

After completing Battle Pet Tamers: Northrend, each of those tamers will offer a daily quest that offers a small amount of gold (around 9 gold and some silver) and the final tamer of the continent, who is located in Icecrown, will offer a daily quest where the reward is a bag that has a chance to give the player a pet upgrade stone and various pet-related goodies like bandages and pet biscuits.

Beegle Blastfuse

Beegle Blastfuse hangs out in Howling Fjord.
Location: Howling Fjord

Beegle stands near the coast on the western edge of Howling Fjord and stands south of the Horde based Apothecary Camp and north of the Alliance based Westguard Keep.

Pets: Dinner the the Chicken (Flying), Gobbles the Turkey (Flying) and Warble the Penguin (Aquatic)

Defeating: Beegle is bested most easily by a few Magic pets to beat on the Flyers and a Flyer to beat up on his Aquatic.

Nearly Headless Jacob

Location: Crystalsong Forest

Nearly Headless Jacob stands in the valley below Dalaran and is on the southeast end of the river that flows through the zone.

Pets: Stitch the Skeleton Marionette (Undead), Spooky Strangler the Crawling Claw (Undead) and Mort the Ghostly Skull (Undead).

Defeating: Since Jacob uses a trio of Undead pets, you'd defeat him most easily by using a trip of Critters.

Okrut Dragonwaste

Okrut Dragonwaste calls Dragonblight home
Location:  Dragonblight

Okrut is located at the very southern edge of the Path of the Titans, which runs through the center of the Dragonblight zone.

Pets: Droger the Dragon (Dragonkin, obviously), Sleet the Whelp (Undead) and Rot the Dragon (Undead as well).

Defeating: Critters do well against the Undead pets and this particular Dragonkin would be demolished by a Humanoid.

Gutretch

Gutretch lives in the Troll zone of Zul'Drak
Location: Zul'Drak

Gutretch hangs out in Zul'Drak in the very western side of the zone on a road that leads right into neighboring Crystalsong Forest.

Pets: Cadavus the toothy Maggot (Beast), Fleshrender the fanged Maggot (Beast) and Blight the Rat (Critter).

Defeating: A few Mechanical pets would do well against Gutretch to defeat his Beasts while using a Beast of your own to fight against his Critter would work out for the third pet.

Grand Master Payne

Grand Master Payne kicks it in Icecrown
Location: Icecrown

Payne is located in Icecrown and sits at the base of a large tower that's on the northeast side of the Argent Tournament Grounds that sit in the far northeast side of the zone. You'll get a quest to visit him after you beat all the other Northrend tamers.

Pets: Grizzle the Bear (Beast), Bloom the blue Lasher (Elemental) and Beakmaster X-225 the Mechanopeep (Mechanical).

Defeating: This particular pet tamer is considered one of the harder fights in the game, so it often takes a little experimentation to see what type of pets will fare best. A Mechanical should beat the Beast, an Aquatic should beat the Elemental and an Elemental should beat the Mechanical.

  1. I managed with a level 25 Nether Ray Fry, a 25 Water Elemental and a 21 Huge Toad oddly enough (in that order). I just got lucky I suppose. :)
