The Complete Beasts of Fable Guide for Warcraft Battle Pets

The quest "Beasts of Fable" will have you flying all over Pandaria to fight different elite pets (they're orange legendary status!), and after you've beat all of these elite battle pets, you'll be rewarded with a cute little Red Panda pet.

You'll pick up this quest in your faction's Pandaria city (Shrine of Two Moons for Horde and Shrine of Seven Stars for Alliance):

Since each of these battles is against just a single pet (which will have a ton of HP, take reduced damage, and will hit rather hard on an unprepared team), each of these battles rewards pet family stacking. This means that if you're facing "Skitterer Xi'a," which is an Aquatic elite pet, you'll want to use a group of Flyers.

Likewise, if you're facing Gorespine, a Beast, using some Mechanical pets is a great idea. Although each battle can be won by using a group of varied pets, it's often the case that a pair or even three similar pets will work the best for these battles.

These fights are one of the best reasons why you should have a stable of maximum level pets with multiple pets in each pet family. A good number to shoot for when you're first leveling your pets is to have at least 3 of each pet family at maximum level.

(hint: click on the pictures for bigger versions!)

Ka'Wi the Gorger (a Critter worm)

Location: The Jade Forest

Abilities: Moth Balls, Super Sticky Goo, Chew
Use: A team of beasts will work well against Ka'wi.
Don't Use: Undead pets will have their work cut out for them against this elite pet.

Gorespine (a Beast hedgehog)

Location: Dread Wastes

Abilities: Spiked Skin, Scratch, Rip
Use: Mechanical pets are terrific against Gorespine; however, the "Glowing Toxin" from the Effervescent Glowfly is particularly effective because it is an HP-based attack and not a set number.
Don't Use: Critters will get demolished by this Beast.

No-No (an Aquatic beaver)

Location: Vale of Eternal Blossoms

Abilities: Tale Slap, Dive, Beaver Dam
Use: Any group of Flyers should be fine (Moths, Bats, Sandy Petrels)
Don't Use: Undead and elemental pets are weak against No-No's attacks.

Greyhoof (a Beast mushan)

Location: Valley of the Four Winds

Abilities: Trample, Hoof, Roar
Use: Mechanical pets like Robo-Chick and Cogblade Raptor are great against Greyhoof
Don't Use: Undead pets don't fare well against Greyhoof and Critters get battered pretty badly as well.

Lucky Yi (a Critter grasshopper)

Location: Valley of the Four Winds

Abilities: Quick Attack, Perk Up, Uncanny Luck
Use: A team of Beast battle pets, such as the Baby Blizzard Bear, will put up a good fight against Lucky Yi
Don't Use: Undead pets will get beat up by Lucky Yi (as they do with so many fights!)

Ti'un the Wanderer (an Aquatic otter)

Location: Townlong Steppes

Abilities: Tital Wave, Pump, Shell Sheild
Use: Alpine Fox Kit (for Howl), Bat (for Reckless Strike), and any other Flying pet to finish him off.
Don't Use: Undead pets don't fare well against Aquatics.

Kafi (a Beast mountain goat)

Location: Kun-Lai Summit

Abilities: Gnaw, Headbutt, Leap
Use: Mecanical pets do work well here, although Kafi hits HARD, so if he gets a few lucky hits in, your pets could take some heavy damage!
Don't Use: Critters would likely be a terrible idea for this fight.

Dos-Ryga (an Aquatic fish)

Location: Kun-Lai Summit

Abilities: Frost Breath, Whirlpool, Healing Wave
Use: One of the best pets for this fight is the Blighthawk. He can avoid Dos-Ryga's attacks with his "Liftoff" ability" and his Slicing Winds ability does bigger damage to Aquatic pets. A pet with the "Call Darkness" ability also works well (like a Crow or a Scourged Whelpling) because it reduces this elite pet's heals.
Don't Use: Don't try to use a Restless Shadeling like I did! I didn't even use him the first time I fought him...

Nitun (a Critter Tanuki [raccoon])

Location: The Jade Forest

Abilities: Rake, Prowl, Ravage
Use: Although Undead pets usually fare poorly against Critters, they actually come in handy here because the Undead pet won't suffer death from "Ravage" (which heals Nitun for hundreds of HP. In addition, Nitun doesn't actually use any Critter-based attacks, so Undead pets won't be hit so hard.
Don't Use: Nothing is off-limits here, but Undead pets really do best here, so all other pets should be avoided.

Skitterer Xi'a (Aquatic water skimmer)

Location: Krasarang Wilds

Abilities: Skitter, Water Jet, Flurry
Use: Flyers are great against Skitterer Xi'a. A team of 3 will destory him.
Don't Use: His particular talents will destroy Elemental and Undead pets.

Upon completion of this quest for the first time, a series of daily quests will open up which each require beating a few of the "Fabled" elite pets. These quests reward gold, Valor points, coins, and a sack that can contain fun pet goodies.

Tips:

  • These pets don't despawn if you lose, so you have as many chances as you want to beat them!
  • Don't use these pets to level your pets - they don't offer a tremendous amount of experience.
  • Since all of these pets are "elite" or "legendary," they all take 50% less damage.

  1. These are all exotic fruits known to have extraordinary healing and nutritional values! These delicious fruits give LeVive Juice its incomparable taste. Most vitamins and supplemental drinks have a bad flavor and leave an after taste in your mouth, but you won't experience that with the LeVive Juice.
