Setting Up Your Garrison Pet Menagerie

After upgrading your Garrison to level 3, you'll be eligible to build your very own Pet Menagerie that offers you a daily pet battle and currency to buy pet accessories. In addition, your finished Menagerie will feature a few of your favorite pets hanging around each day. It's nice for them to get some fresh air, right?

To build your Menagerie, you'll first need to complete a starter quest that requires you fight three opponents scattered around your Garrison. As of this writing, I'm not sure if you'll always face the same set of pets for your starter quest, but the following pets are the battles I faced (perhaps a fellow pet battler can clarify if this initial quest is always the same?).

The pets you'll face are "Boss" pets that take 50% less damage and they each have a lot of hitpoints. However, each battle puts your team of three against a single boss pet, so think of these boss pets like you're fighting three pets in one.

One pet you'll face is named Gorefu. He's an Aquatic that looks like a tiny hippo. You might do well with a set of flyers against this opponent, but you can mix it up to find pets that use strong attacks.

I personally used an Enchanted Broom, a Fungal Moth, and a Gilnean Raven. The Broom will take less damage from Gorefu since it's a Magic pet, and it has a Mechanical attack that makes him take more damage.

The best way to beat him could be to stack 3 Enchanted Brooms, but I didn't have that, so I tacked on a Fungal Moth and the Gilnean Raven. Not too difficult once you get your team up and running.

The second pet you'll face is named Carrotus Maximus, and he's an Elemental that looks like a Terrible Turnip.

You'll want to try and find Critters that deal Aquatic damage so they'll take less damage fro Carrotus and deal extra damage with their attacks. This pet actually took a few tries to find the right combo.

I first tried using a 3-snail team with Acidic Goo + Dive. Unfortunately, Carrotus Maximus has an annoying ability called "cleanse," which sometimes removes your Acidic Goo. I tried a few times with a snail team, but I kept getting RNG'd to Hellfire and back.

Carrotus also heals excessively with Leech Seed that he seems to cast with wild abandon, which means the fight can take a while.

Rather than beat my head against the wall with a snail team, I tried a frog team instead to try and out-heal the dumb turnip. Even with the Frog team, I BARELY lived at the end. RNG is RNG I guess.

Your third fight will be against Gnawface, a Critter that's a basic rat. Just bring out the spiders and scare some arachnophobia into this easy fight.

Seriously. Pack some Brittle Webbing and Swarm that little rat to death. Take a look at the HP on my team AFTER I fought him:

Once your Managerie is up and running, you'll have a daily pet quest available from Serr'ah, and one of your fights will be against Stitches Jr!!! Too cool!
